Ahead of International Battery Day on February 18th, the Batteries European Partnership Association (BEPA) and Batteries Europe have released the updated Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda (SRIA). Developed with input from European battery experts, the SRIA outlines key priorities for Horizon Europe’s funding:
- Market Integration: Ensure research results reach gigafactories and markets through pilots and digital tools.
- Strategic Autonomy: Reduce reliance on foreign materials, promote circular supply chains, and explore new battery chemistries.
- Affordability and Competitiveness: Enhance battery affordability with abundant materials and better integration into applications.
- Manufacturing and Recycling: Improve flexibility in manufacturing and recycling to adapt quickly to industry changes.
- Safety and Sustainability: Implement safe and sustainable battery design, minimizing emissions and hazardous substances.
- Research Excellence: Support continuous research excellence and collaboration to maintain European leadership.
